Welcome to the Beaver Creek Lodge

Beaver Creek Lodge is a totally restored 1400 sq. ft. country house, and as with our other lodge - the Oswegatchie River lodge, it is rented as a single unit. The entire house is yours. It is located along the extraordinarily beautiful banks of Beaver Creek, right in the heart of Amish Country in St. Lawrence County, within the vast watershed area of the Adirondack mountains. MORE ABOUT ST. LAWRENCE COUNTY
Its very private and quiet setting, nestled between rock cliffs and Beaver Creek, provides a perfect place to rest and relax while at the same time be just a short drive to Canton, Gouverneur, Black Lake, Thousand Islands and the St. Lawerence River, Canada, and the Adirondack Park. It is a 20 minute drive to SUNY Canton and St. Lawrence University and just a little further for SUNY Potsdam and Clarkson University. We are much more than a cabin or cottage. We are a retreat. Between the slow pace set by the Amish and the quiet beauty of nature, you will find Beaver Creek Lodge to be a place where you can unwind from the rat race of modern civilization. The two bedroom lodge has all cathedral ceilings, an additional open sleeping loft, a large well equipped kitchen with many of the basic staples you need for cooking, and enough breakfast food to get you started the next morning after arrival. MORE ABOUT BREAKFAST. The large 16'x30' great room has been combined with a new sun room that has almost entirely glass walls and sliding doors that go out to a deck, all overlooking the stunning Beaver Creek landscape, hills and distant farms.

As with the Oswegatchie River Lodge, the post and plank farmhouse was totally abandoned and lay in ruin. We purchased and completely restored the property. Our company, ANTIQUE WOODS AND COLONIAL RESTORATIONS, has been restoring colonial homes and barns for almost 35 years now and we proud to bring this wonderful home back to life and create a new use for it. If you are a "Green" follower, you will be happy to know almost the entire house has been recycled. MORE ABOUT THE FARMHOUSE.

A short distance from the deck is a 50 foot walk-bridge that leads you to the banks of the Beaver creek and a panoramic view of literally miles of marsh , wetlands and pine forest that Beaver creek meanders through. You will also find a dock there to fish from, cross country ski from, or take one of the most beautiful and peaceful private kayak rides of your life. MORE ABOUT RECREATION.

You will see and hear many friendly Amish folks with their horse and buggies going over the iron grate bridge that abuts our property. You can also take a short drive or a bike ride to shop at the numerous Amish road side produce stands that are around the area. This is not a rich tourist area like Lancaster County, PA, with mostly nicely painted farms. These are real working farms and these most conservative Old Order Amish are eking out a living from the earth in the most ingenious ways. MORE ABOUT THE AMISH. There are no tour buses here, but if you want to see more of the Amish community, a local Amish man will give you a tour in his buggy. More info on buggy rides.

Beaver Creek opened for lodgers this past May and we are thrilled with the number of folks who have reserved some time with us and their kind comments that are written in our guest book. To read the comments click here. We have taken the time to provide you with a lot of additional information about our lodge and surrounding area. We hope you will find this info useful. MORE ABOUT THE OWNERS. Dale and Sophie Lehmer are members of the St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce and the St. Lawrence County Bed and Breakfast Association.

Check out our other lodge- Oswegatchie River Lodge!
Dale and Sophie are also opening (May 2008) another similar lodge in the area - Oswegatchie River Lodge - located on a very scenic 90 acre non- working farm (no manure smells!). We have over half a mile frontage on the Oswegatchie River, and provide you with your own private river picnic area with open deck, screened in room, hammock, swimming area, kayaks, fishing rods, and gas grill. If our Beaver Creek Lodge is filled for the dates you desire, or you are a former guest and would like to try a change in the scenery, please check out our Oswegatchie River Lodge to see if perhaps our accommodations there would meet your needs. In our new lodge we allow pets.
