Sophie and Dale, What a lovely retreat that you have created. Everything was perfect... from the very cozy bed, well- equipped kitchen and book collection to the woody smell that greeted us whenever we opened a cabinet. Our favorite time was on the evening of the 11th. The sky was ripe with stars and we saw many satellites and enjoyed the meteor shower. It seems that we had a little bit of everything... beautiful sunshine, a thunderstorm right after dinner on the 12th, a fun kayak ride and morning fishing. Gord had fun running and biking on the back roads and met a few dogs that were anxious to give chase. Luckily, he runs fast! The two things that we commented on over the weekend were the quietness and the wonderful feeling of being totally alone. This was a fantastic place for us to have our vacation together. We really don't want to leave, and that says something, as I am usually anxious to go home after a day or two. I suspect we will come back one day. We have too many great memories not to. Again, you and your family have done a wonderful job with the place. It truly is special.
Cheers, Ruby and Gord Ottawa, Canada

This was definitely a different type of vacation experience for us "Big City Folks". It was just what we needed. Dale and Sophie have done an amazing job rehabbing this home. We enjoyed the time we spent inside as well as around the property. The kids enjoyed finding frogs, snakes, rabbits and fish. We all enjoyed the outdoor space, grilling and eating on the deck in the evenings and venturing out into the creek for occasional kayak rides (how relaxing!!!) It was an extra bonus to "live amongst the Amish community" and admire their discipline/ appreciation of the land. We also found they had the best goods in town. Dale and Sophie, you two definitely put together all the ingredients for a restful and enjoyable week up in the country. It was great knowing the home came equipped with everything we would need to enjoy the space and land. We will definitely be recommending your home to various friends of ours.
Best regards David, Jenn, Aiyana and CoWoy Brooklyn NYC

You have a very nice lodge. We are so glad to have spent a few days here. It was very fun. We enjoyed going in kayaks on the creek, fishing from the bridge on the pier... but we haven't caught any fish! We enjoyed going on bicycles a few times, play each day at croquet in the backyard looking at the little rabbits. Thank you to have recommended to us the monkey rope to jump and swim in the river. So much fun, especially for my boys. We also had good BBQ dinners on the terrace changing places each night to change our view. So nice view everywhere! We will recommend your lovely place to our friends in Quebec for sure! We wish you will have a big success with the lodge because you worked so much... and it is beautiful!

Dale and Sophie,
We really enjoyed our stay here. The house is amazing it really shows all the time and thought put into it. What we loved the most was the way that it is secluded. It was nice to get away from the normal every day routine and just relax. It was the perfect place to spend our first anniversary. We look forward to coming again hopefully in the fall.

Dear Dale and Sophie,
We have really enjoyed staying at your lovely lodge. It truly is a special place. We have enjoyed watching and listening to the buggies travel up and down the road. It was extra special to meet and talk with a few of the Amish to go on the buggy ride with Sam. We were treated to a wonderful slice of Amish life when Sam took us to his mother in law's who owns the local Amish "grocery" store. It was a local gathering spot for many of the Amish. You have done a great job as restoring this farm house. It was warm and inviting with all the comforts of home. We also enjoyed going on the kayaks up the creek. We wish you continued success with the lodge and we hope to return one day.
Thanks again, Eileen, Steve, Conor and Ethan Carlsbad, California

This has been the best retreat and anniversary we have had. This place is absolutely wonderful. Thank you for your hospitality and you being so nice. We loved how peaceful and beautiful this place is. It has been very relaxing. The buggy ride was awesome. Sam was very informative and Anna was very persuasive. They are both very nice people. We also liked how nice people are around here. This world needs more people like that. Everything was just perfect. Thank you again for everything you did to make our stay so pleasant. Hope to see both of you in the near future.
Thanks again, Eprain and Maggie Rochester, NY

Dale and Sophie,
Thank you so much for this wonderful escape. It is by far one of the most serene, relaxing, and calming environments that a couple could wish to enjoy. Everything is so beautifully decorated, and gives us thoughts of how we would like our future home to be so inviting and cozy. We enjoyed kayaking on the creek (our first time!!), a wonderful picnic lunch on the deck, fishing off the bridge, or evening barbeque, and a quaint breakfast with a spectacular view and the background noise of Amish house and buggies. We will definitely be recommending your lodge to our friends and hope they have the same opportunity to enjoy your hospitality as we did.
Thank you again for such a lovely weekend, Chris and Elisa Ithaca, NY

We have had a wonderful time here – the boys have enjoyed running around and exploring, toasting marshmallows over the fire and watching the squirrels – we caught one and a bird, then something "big" knocked the trap out of the tree! We went kayaking – (Jonny fell off the dock) – no harm done, just very muddy!) – very peaceful! Biking along the back roads was also good. The house is beautiful – so nicely restored – everything we needed was here. We grilled most nights – so easy – and ate out on the deck watching the sun go down. Its so nice when you find places like this – so obviously cared for and thoughtfully prepared.
Thank you again Sophie and Dale! I'm sure we'll be back. Dawn, Andy, Alex and Jonny Victor, NY

July 1, 2007 What an amazing place you have! You both did a fantastic job with the house - it is so welcoming and beautiful. The little touches such as the fresh flowers, the amazing breakfast foods, everything! We had planned to go out to dinner for our anniversary but we just couldn't leave! We had a BBQ out on the deck with fresh veggies we picked up at a local farm. I slept like a log in the most comfortable bed in the world! Thank you for sharing your "labor of love". It is so obvious the love and caring that you put into Beaver Creek. I believe you have thought of everything, down to the little boxes of tissues.
Thanks again and we hope to come back sometime in the near future. Hal and Lisa Warrington PA

June 22, 2007 Sophie and Dale,
We have enjoyed our week in your lovely cottage. It is the nicest place we have rented. The location is beautiful. We appreciate your hospitality – the kitchen was wonderfully stocked. Everything is so clean and thoughtfully decorated. We enjoyed the deck, fire pit and dock. The early mornings and evenings were wonderful. Trapping the red squirrels was quite a challenge!
Thanks again! Carmen and Ron Domonkos Stamford, CT
Note: Our local red squirrels were chewing through our screens and our closet doors for food. We caught them in a have-a-heart trap (does not hurt the squirrel) and relocated the trouble-makers to another area of the forest where there were no houses.
